1.为成功而开始的项目
有的项目从一开始就注定失败，不切实际的最后期限是此类项目的特征。

2.出色的管理层
涵盖项目管理和人员管理两方面。这意味着避免事无巨细的管理方式，鼓励独立思考，懂得怎样创建有质量的软件，决策果断，有替团队承担责任的勇气。

3.能学到新东西
开发者最高兴的事情莫过于学到新的技能，挑战老的技术。

4.用自己的创造力解决实际的问题
开发者喜欢接受有挑战性的工作，无聊的工作不会长久留住他们。

5.有发言权
开发者知道一个系统为什么工作或者为什么不。当他们说话是，应当有人听取，如果他们都在说同一件事情，不但要听，最好赶快有所行动。

6.辛苦工作得到认可
大多数开发者都喜欢得到赞扬，发自内心的赞扬。

7.做真正有用的东西
维护一个已经没什么人用的恐龙系统，做一个只为了骗钱的软件不在此列。

8.不需要只有开会才能做决定
如果每做一个决定都要开一个六人的会议，还不如死了算了。

9.遗留问题越少越好
没有人喜欢接漏洞百出的代码和蹩脚的设计。太多的历史遗留问题会抹杀创造力，导致更多会议，彻底破坏开发软件的乐趣。

对于老板来说，如果你不能给开发者以上这些东西，你就不要奇怪为什么手下的人只和你谈钱了。
